Holiday Arrival Directions

It is very important that you read the following details carefully Please print off this email and bring it with you on your arrival day. You will need this information to gain access to your cottage. Please make a note of our contact numbers 07802239430 or 01668 214895.

Please be aware that mobile reception is patchy, hence the importance of printing off and reading this information before you leave home. Some of the more rural roads may not be well lit or signposted so please make sure you have spent time planning your route. If arriving late at night, it’s also advisable to bring a torch for both map reading and finding the door.

Your arrival
We shall have your cottage ready for 5pm on your arrival day. Please do resist the temptation to arrive early without prior arrangement because we only have a few hours between the departure time of 9.30am and your arrival. This is just enough time to ensure your property is cleaned and presented to the 5* standards you will be expecting.

For best access by car:
From the North on the A1, take the Coastal Route towards Bamburgh opposite the first Belford turn off, and follow the route until Waren Mill. At Waren Mill, pass the turning towards Belford and the A1 and immediately after the post box turn right (at Bay View cottage opposite a fence overlooking Budle Bay) then first left through the gate onto the gravel drive (after the concrete parking area) – look for the two 5* Self Catering signs – one on the gate post opposite The Arches and the other on the stone wall above it on the other side of the little drive, next to the sign The Water Mill, Budle Falls and Farm Access Only.  Please drive between the two 5* signs and please close the gate after you. Proceed slowly across the hump-back Budle Bridge ensuring you are completely clear of the bridge before turning to park to your right. Please unload your car from here, and reload at the end of your stay. Please drive carefully as we have free range animals, children and a husband.

When approaching from the South, take A1 to Bamburgh turn off at Adderstone Services with Purdy Lodge. Turn right to Bamburgh and follow all the way until you arrive at the village. At the green, turn left and then left again at Blacketts onto the coastal route. Follow this road for just under 2 miles, passing the signs for Budle Hall, Budle Farm, Waren Campsite on the left, then Budle Bay on the right and The Waren House Hotel on the left. After the hotel, take the first left into the tiny hamlet of Waren Mill after crossing the river – before the post box (look for Bay View cottage cottage opposite a fence overlooking Budle Bay) then first left through the gate onto the gravel drive (after the concrete parking area) – look for the two 5* Self Catering signs – one on the gate post opposite The Arches and the other on the stone wall above it on the other side of the little drive, next to the sign The Water Mill, Budle Falls and Farm Access Only.  Please drive between the two 5* signs and please close the gate after you. Proceed slowly across the hump back Budle Bridge ensuring you are completely clear of the bridge before turning to park to your right. Please unload your car from here, and reload at the end of your stay. Please drive carefully as we have free range animals, children and a husband.

Budle Haugh is the single story detached barn on your left just after you cross the bridge. The front door will be open for your arrival.

Budle Falls is the single story detached barn on the left after you cross the bridge, behind The Water Mill and through the gate past Budle Haugh.

There is parking bays in front of the sign saying Customer Parking. Please select a free area allowing other guests ease of exit from their car too – there is plenty of space. If you have more than one car in your party, please can you park tightly behind each other to allow everyone sufficient space to park and turn. Please do not park in front of gates, the log store at the side of the 2 storey building, The Water Mill, or the bin stores.

The surface is level, gravel with the exception of a slight slope up to Budle Falls.

For best access by car:
From the North on the A1, take the Coastal Route towards Bamburgh opposite the first Belford turn off, and follow the route until Waren Mill. At Waren Mill, pass the turning towards Belford/ the A1 and The Waren Hotel.

Immediately after the entrance to The Waren Hotel (note the lodge in between) is a lane on the right that goes behind the hotel. Take this turning, pass the hotel and you will notice an entrance to a rural business on the right selling eggs and wood. Just after this, past the hen garden there is a turning to the right which is sign posted Budle Bay Bothies.

Drive down this country grassed lane and at the bottom turn right through the gates to Budle Bay Bothies. Follow the road around, past the log store and bend to the right, and you will see a parking area ahead.

The parking for Two Shakes is directly behind the shepherds hut which is blue in colour and has a slate sign saying Two Shakes on the back. Please ensure when you enter the garden that you properly shut the gate behind you and keep it shut securely at all times.

When approaching from the South, take A1 to Bamburgh turn off at Adderstone Services with Purdy Lodge. Turn right to Bamburgh and follow all the way until you arrive at the village. At the green, turn left and then left again at Blackets Gift Shop (opposite the church) onto the coastal route. Follow this road for about 2 miles, passing the signs for Budle Hall, Budle Farm, Waren Campsite on the left, then Budle Bay on the right.

As you reach Budle Bay look for the turning on the left before the Waren House Hotel (there is a lodge on the roadside). Turn left behind the Waren House Hotel and follow the little lane past the back of the hotel.

You will notice an entrance to a rural business on the right selling eggs and wood. Just after this, past the hen garden there is a turning to the right which is sign posted Budle Bay Bothies.

Drive down this country grassed lane (“lonnen”) and at the bottom turn right through the gates to Budle Bay Bothies. Follow the road around, past the log store and bend to the right, and you will see a parking area ahead.

The parking for Two Shakes is directly behind the shepherd’s hut which is on the left, is blue in colour and has a slate sign saying Two Shakes on the back.

Please ensure when you enter the garden that you properly shut the gate behind you and keep it shut securely at all times.
