We have strived to create a safe and nurturing petting experience to help the littleys learn about animals. There are ewesually sheep, cluckin\u2019 chickens, and gorgeous goats but sometimes \u2018oinkin pigs and cheeky ponies Jaspar and Claret. There is something to do everyday of the year on Budle Bay Croft. Our happy animals love petting and attention, and some are playful and curious, eating out of your hands or skipping across the fields to say hello. Children will have a blast with the animals all day. They can help us wake up the sleepyheads and give them breakfast in the morning at the Breakfast Baa. The pigs when we have them love fresh fruit and vegetables each day. The ducks if around love bread while the chickens like to eat just about anything (except chicken!). The children (or adults!) can also go on an egg hunt for their own freshly laid breakfast too!<\/p>\n<p>There are seasonal activities at BBC.[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"msg success clearfix\"><p><\/p>\n<h2>Spring<\/h2>\n<p>The bright coloured bulbs peak through the cold winter grounds hinting at\u00a0the promise of the summer to come. The fragrant blossom is in the trees, the delicate\u00a0buds are opening out as if in praise of the warmer sunshine and the longer days \u2013 at this\u00a0time of year, Budle Bay Croft really Springs into life! The highlight of every farm\u2019s year is\u00a0lambing time. We usually lamb our ladies in March\/April \u2013 nature permitting. Come and\u00a0see what has to happen to a newborn lamb (or even see one being born if you are truly\u00a0lucky). If any lambs are born while you holiday, you get to name them! Why not watch\u00a0the lambs learn to feed and see how their mum looks after them? At the end of each day,\u00a0it is an absolute joy to watch the lambs have their mad half hour before sleepily settling\u00a0down with mum for a snuggle and bed (remind you of anything?). From Spring to the end\u00a0of June, there may even be orphaned lambs to bottle feed (Mother Nature permitting), and we love little (or even big) helpers\u00a0to join in with us! You are welcome to come and sit on the straw bales\u00a0and bottle feed the hungry\u00a0orphans, and give them a little cuddle afterwards! Spring is also the time for other new\u00a0life. We sometimes have chicks, ducklings and piglets, and the wild birds are a frenzy nesting\u00a0and feeding their young. Why not enjoy some of the long Easter holidays with a bit of\u00a0fun on the farm? Create your family eggstravaganza at Budle Bay Croft &#8211; maybe an egg hunt or egg painting! And for wet days, there is still oodles to do in\u00a0the cottage, and don\u2019t forget the games!<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/div><div class=\"msg notice clearfix\"><p><\/p>\n<h2>Summer<\/h2>\n<p>Summer is a time for celebration of the sun. Everything becomes lush and long, and\u00a0after the daily activities with the animals, there is nothing better than to just relax with\u00a0a beer and a BBQ, or just leaning on the fence watching the farm life go by. Kids can burn off that unending energy\u00a0on the playground. It is not just the days that are long in summer though. The ewe\u2019s\u00a0coats get long too, making them hot and uncomfortable, so we need to shear the sheep\u00a0and sort the flock (Dad\u2019s seem especially good at this).<\/p>\n<p>The beaches are a year round\u00a0highlight, and we have buckets and spades to help create your sandcastle grand design!<\/p>\n<p>Fishing is also available at Budle Bay Croft and the sea trout\u00a0season is between April and October, natural conditions determining availability and\u00a0size. Remember to bring your equipment. The river is warmer in summer, so if you want\u00a0to brave standing on the stones, you might even catch a tiddler or two!<\/p>\n<p>Walking from\u00a0Budle Bay Croft is easy and a true pleasure in summer, with the Coastal Path virtually on\u00a0the doorstep, St. Cuthbert\u2019s way just up the road, and incredible vistas of the beaches and\u00a0castles when walking from BBC to Bamburgh on a balmy British summer\u2019s day. Wild blackberry picking is a\u00a0seasonal family favourite \u2013 nothing nicer than freshly made, steaming hot blackberry\u00a0crumble and Doddington\u2019s ice-cream!<\/p>\n<p>Halloween can be a real spooky fest at Budle Bay Croft on\u00a0the cold, dry, dark and crisp autumnal nights, with a ghost hunt through the enchanted\u00a0woods, monster fun and games, and an open camp fire for toasty marshmallows \u2013 why\u00a0not make a lantern at Alnwick Gardens and bring it along on the ghost trail with you?<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0coast and country is still a pleasure to behold, squeezing the last of the year\u2019s warmth on\u00a0bike rides and walks \u2013 we have had some spectacularly warm Octobers when the children\u00a0have even been able to swim in the North Sea during \u201cTatty\u201d picking week at half term!\u00a0And if the days are getting cooler, you can always snuggle up with a hot chocolate, movie\u00a0and a toasty log fire!<br \/>\n<\/p><\/div><div class=\"msg default clearfix\"><p><\/p>\n<h2>Winter<\/h2>\n<p>Winter is a great time to stay at Budle Bay Croft. Everything is quieter, but the animals still\u00a0need taken care of. And don\u2019t forget the games room is still open \u2013 and it is heated! The\u00a0beaches are usually deserted, and a winter walk is utterly invigorating. And if you are\u00a0lucky enough to have snow, we have great hills to make snowmen, or why not\u00a0try sliding down Sledging Slope \u2013 for the very brave, you could even start at the top of\u00a0the slide to go super fast! The clear, dark night skies are fantastic at Budle Bay Croft in winter, with\u00a0regular sightings of meteorites, and more recently the mysterious Northern Lights. For\u00a0our bird watching guests, the winter migratory bird activity is spectacular. Christmas and\u00a0New Year are particularly special at Budle Bay Croft if you want to get away from it all.\u00a0Real Christmas Trees,\u00a0log burning fires,\u00a0hot chocolate snuggled up on comfy sofas with\u00a0cosy throws,\u00a0fizz to help you celebrate, with special treats from Northumberland. You\u00a0can even bring fireworks! The local villages make interesting yet traditional contrasts of\u00a0holiday cheer, starting with the annual Christmas lights switch on parties at the end of\u00a0November, and the illumination of the hand carved nativity scene. The Christmas Eve Christingle service\u00a0in Bamburgh really gets you into the spirit of the season, and if you follow that with the\u00a0Seahouses fireworks, you are right in the mood for the festivities! Throughout the winter,\u00a0the local restaurants and pubs usually have roaring log fires, and offer a particularly\u00a0warm welcome on these coldest of days.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/div>[vc_column_text]Of course, you don\u2019t have to be involved with the animals if you prefer not to. You can simply wander the land exploring the natural flora and fauna \u2013 from wild daffodils and bluebells to foxes and herons. From swallows, swifts and owls, to otters, weasels and kingfishers. swans, geese and ducks to dippers, buzzards and woodpeckers \u2013 all (and more) have been seen at Budle Bay Croft \u2013 wonder what you will see?<\/p>\n<p>On top of all of that there is still more! There is a range of outside play equipment to suit most children\u2019s needs \u2013 from swings, slide and trampoline. How about playing pooh sticks from the hump back bridge \u2013 just watch out for the ducks!
